What Is Botulinum Toxin?
Botulinum toxin works to temporarily stop movement in muscles. With repeated facial muscle movement, fine lines and static wrinkles can start to develop permanently. We use neuromodulators to decrease that muscle movement that is causing wrinkle formation. This will result in improved skin texture and less wrinkle formation.
What Are the Advantages of Neuromodulators?
Here’s what our Botox® treatments will provide:
Botox® injectables are non-surgical. They take approximately 30 minutes to complete, require no recovery time, and often produce excellent results fast.
In addition to cosmetic benefits, Botox® can also alleviate pain and discomfort in the head and jaw, such as headaches, sweating, and TMJ.
After completing your treatments, your face's skin will look younger and natural-looking, boosting your self-esteem and satisfaction.
Pre-Care Instructions for Neuromodulators
The following is essential pre-care neuromodulator guidance:
- You must not have skin infections in the targeted area.
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours before treatment or more. Alcohol thins the blood, which can increase the chances of bruising.
- We advise avoiding blood-thinning medications for two weeks before treatment and a few days following. NSAID medications also thin the blood and boost the risk of bruising and swelling.
Post-Care Instructions for Botulinum Treatment
Our post-care instructions include:
- Avoid body temperature-raising activities for four hours after treatments. These activities can include exercise, hot tubs, saunas, or being in the sun. Increased body temperature can negatively impact the neurotoxin’s effect.
- Do not touch, lay down, or perform activities on the treated area for four hours after treatment. This will help the neurotoxin take full effect and prevent issues like dropped eyebrows or eyelids.
- Do not wear hats, visors, headbands, or any clothing that could affect the neurotoxin.
- Healing at the injection sites usually takes a day. To avoid infection, don’t apply makeup until after your injection sites have healed. You can begin washing your face four hours after treatment.
- Schedule a follow-up appointment two weeks after treatment so we can assess your progress.
- We recommend getting treated every three to four months for best results.
FAQs
How Do Botox® and Dermal Fillers Differ?
Botox® and dermal fillers serve different purposes in aesthetic medicine. Botox® is a neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes facial muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, particularly around the forehead and eyes. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, add volume and fullness to areas like the cheeks, lips, and nasolabial folds. Together, they can create a harmonious, youthful appearance.
How Long Does it Take to See Results From Botox® and Dermal Fillers?
With Botox®, most clients notice improvements within 3 to 7 days as the treatment takes effect. Dermal fillers provide immediate results, but the final outcome may continue to improve over the next few days as any swelling subsides. Both treatments can last several months, depending on the type used and individual factors.
Is the Botox® Treatment Painful?
Most clients report that Botox® injections are relatively painless, often likening the sensation to a small pinch. Our trained professionals at Nurture Aesthetics & Wellness prioritize your comfort and may apply a topical numbing cream before the procedure to minimize any discomfort. The entire process is quick, typically taking only a few minutes.
Can I Combine Different Treatments, Like Botox® and Microneedling?
Yes, combining treatments like Botox® and microneedling can often yield enhanced results. Many clients choose to have Botox® to address wrinkles while using microneedling for overall skin rejuvenation. During your consultation, our professionals will discuss the best treatment plan for your individual needs to ensure optimal outcomes.
